How the formula works
The statutory redundancy pay formula (Employment Rights Act 1996, s.162) uses three inputs: your age, your gross weekly pay, and the number of complete years of service. Each year of service is weighted by an age multiplier — the older you were during that year, the more weeks it’s worth.
Weekly pay capped at £751. Years capped at 20.
Count each year backwards from your age today. Apply the correct multiplier per year.
Multiply total weeks by capped weekly pay. Result capped at £22,530 maximum.
Important: This calculator is a planning aid only. Statutory redundancy pay eligibility depends on continuous service, genuine redundancy, and employment status. Always verify with ACAS or a qualified employment solicitor before making decisions.
